Abstract Details for Vocational Rehabilitation Workforce Studio Podcast

This podcast focuses on individuals with disabilities and their courageous journeys through vocational rehabilitation and how they overcome the obstacles to independence and employment. The podcast is hosted by WWRC Director, Rick Sizemore, along with Co-Host, Anne Hudlow, who is the Executive Director of the WWRC Foundation. The Foundation distributes these podcasts through iTunes and from the VR Workforce Studio website at http://vrworkforcestudio.com as well as Stitcher Radio. In just over 24 months, the podcast has been downloaded over 12,000 times and has distribution channels followed by over 25,000 subscribers across eight networks. It has also been promoted by some key partners including the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. George Washing University and the University of Virginia now require entry level rehabilitation counselors to listen to VR Workforce Studio Episodes. One of our recent episodes http://vrworkforcestudio.com/career-pathways-individuals-disabilities-success-story-austin-mcquade-lands-job-cda/ was forwarded to members of Congress in advance of visits to Capitol Hill by members of the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation. Finally, we’ve gotten e mail from other disability service organizations who have found the podcast on the internet and contacted WWRC about how they could utilize podcasting to engage business, discuss skill gains/credentials and other features of WIOA within their organizations. The Podcast is now growing exponentially. Within the past two months several additional networks have begun distributing the VR Workforce Studio.
